Theresia Whitfield
Theresia Whitfield started her writing career as a producer/correspondent on the TV news side of journalism. After graduating from the year-long training program at Carolina School of Broadcasting in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was hired as the consumer/investigative producer for the NBC affiliate there. She worked for two years in this top-28 market producing for two correspondents and earned two Emmy nominations and two Top Consumer Report awards from RTNDA (Radio and Television News Directors Association) and the Associated Press.
Theresia then relocated to Washington, DC to try her hand at freelancing as a producer/correspondent. She worked for numerous production houses on a variety of stories including medical, political, military, and consumer issues. She was asked by the local Fox and CBS affiliates to write for their news programs before moving on to work as a producer for CNN, Reuters Television and CBN News, mostly covering events on Capitol Hill.
During her two years in the nation's capital, Theresia also taught at Connecticut Schools of Broadcasting in Crystal City, Virginia. The school is located within a miles walk of the Pentagon, which is where she was the morning America was attacked by terrorists. She covered the events of 9/11 from DC as well as from New York.
A change was in order after the harrowing and difficult days following the 9/11 attacks. Theresia relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana to continue working as a journalist. Her passion for sports, especially auto racing, led her to switch from covering news in TV to writing about racing for magazines. To date, Theresia has been published in more than two-dozen national and international publications. She has written about numerous racing series including NASCAR, IndyCar, USAC, karting, Pro Stock, IHRA/NHRA, Firestone Indy Lights, Formula BMW, Toyota Atlantics and others. She has also represented racers and racing associates in the role of public relations.
Theresia's writing has expanded beyond motor sports and now covers a variety of interests including faith-based issues as well as providing corporate writing support through her company, Fletcher Communications. She writes content for web sites, brochures/flyers, newsletters, blogs, speeches, internal and external communications and more.
